I would like to send an auto reply to an initial message that comes in alerting my client that we will respond within 24 hours. If they reply again immediately, I want that auto reply to be disabled for that 24 hour period so they do not receive multiple times even if they send multiple messages.

We're making a change that prevents the same "auto reply" from being being sent multiples times in one conversation per day. It think this will accomplish what you need here.
